Honeys
Honey is a natural product produced by bees. The bees suck the nectar from the loons, carry it into their cells and turn it into sweet honey. At the same time, they play an important role as maintainers of our unique ecosystem. Bees are actually one of nature’s best pollinators. In Greece, local beekeepers often work together with farmers. For example, beehives are often seen on orange plantations. The bees get plenty of food from a small area and at the same time move the pollen of the loons.
The composition, quality, organoleptic characteristics of honey, such as smell, taste and colour, and flexibility vary greatly depending on where the hives are located and what kind of flora there is around them. Annual weather conditions also effect on the final composition of the honey.
